Interim Strategy for the Philippines

Goal: To contribute to poverty reduction in the Philippines through equitable, sustainable development.

Strategic Objective 1: To foster efficient, responsive, transparent and accountable governance at all levels.

Expected Results:

1.1   Improved capacity of national and local governments to become more accountable and undertake more transparent decision-making processes.
1.2   Greater participation of civil society, especially women, in decision-making and ensuring greater government accountability.
1.3   Enhanced capacity to promote human rights, rule of law and peaceful approaches to conflict resolution.
1.4   Improved access of rural and urban poor to government services.

Strategic Objective 2 : To support the development of sustainable small and medium enterprises that create more, better and decent jobs for both men and women.

Expected Results:

2.1    Improved policies, legislative and regulatory frameworks that facilitate SME development.
2.2    Increased capacity of organizations to deliver business support services to SMEs.
2.3    Improved access by SMEs to financing.
2.4    Increased SME capacity to mobilize resources, expand market access and increase employment.
